Lori Jean Yankee, age 56 of Round Lake Heights, passed away on April 23, 2022, surrounded by her loving family. Lori was born on June 23, 1965, in Beloit, Wisconsin to Ronald and Jean (Bryan) Yankee.
Lori was a proud graduate of Round Lake Senior High School, class of 1983. Lori often shared fond memories of her high school days. Upon graduation, Lori joined the United States Army and proudly served her country. After being in the Army, Lori had a taste of adventure and continued traveling.
Lori, being a free-spirited, fun-loving, charismatic woman, went on many more adventures and especially loved doing them in her Jeep. Lori was very athletic and enjoyed, as well as, participated in many sports with softball being her passion. Lori once had an opportunity to star as an extra in the women’s softball movie, ” A League of Their Own”. Lori spent many summers at Softball City in Hainseville, Illinois.
Along with softball, Lori enjoyed camping, bird-watching, making people laugh, and animals, namely her beloved Golden Retriever, Cola.
Lori is survived by her parents: Ronald and Jean (Bryan) Yankee: her siblings: Mark Yankee (widowed) and Tanya (Lawrence) Kolb; her goddaughter and niece Courtney Prais and her nieces Morgan and Eleanor Yankee.
A Memorial Service will be held for Lori on Friday, May 20, 2022 . Family will receive friends from 4:00 – 7:00 PM at Justen’s Round Lake Funeral Home, 222 N. Rosedale Court, Round Lake, IL and the family is asking that everyone who stops by to wear some kind of sports shirt in memory of Lori’s love of sports and her being athletic.
