Lorraine M. Stefaniak, age 90, formerly a longtime resident of Round Lake, died Friday, December 30, 2011, at the Lutheran Home in Arlington Heights.
She was born July 16, 1921 in Chicago to Francis and Anna (Ezop) Rywelski. On June 6, 1942, she married Ted Stefaniak at St. Hyacinth Church.
Lorraine was a resident of Round Lake from 1950 to 1991, when she moved to Wood Dale. In 2002, she moved to Darien, where she lived until becoming a resident of the Lutheran Home in 2011.
Prior to retirement, Lorraine taught the Rules of the Road for the Secretary of State’s Office.
For many years, she was a member of St. Joseph Church in Round Lake, and also volunteered there.
Survivors include four children, Ted (Janet) Stefaniak of Round Lake, Marciann (Virginia) Stefaniak of Plano, Martha (Bader) Elshareif of Elmhurst, and Anna (Denise) Stefaniak of Darien; 18 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and 3 great great grandchildren; two sisters, Laverne (the late Joe) Borowczyk and Betty (the late Joe) Wajerski.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ted, on Sept. 9, 1990; and two grandsons, Sean and Michael.
Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, January 3, 2012, at Justen’s Round Lake Funeral Home, 222 N. Rosedale Court, Round Lake. Following the visitation and closing prayers at the funeral home, the procession will leave for the noon funeral Mass at St. Joseph Church, 114 Lincoln Avenue, Round Lake.
Interment will be in Ascension Cemetery, Libertyville.
