Lucretia J. Coates, age 73, of Round Lake Park, died Friday, October 7, 2011, at Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville.
She was born November 19, 1937 in Melrose Park to Pascal and Florence (Merklin) Mazuc. On June 17, 1961, she married Ralph E. Coates at St. Charles Borromeo Church in Melrose Park.
A resident of Round Lake Park since June, 1979, she was employed as a telephone operator by Illinois Bell for over 30 years. While with Illinois Bell, she worked in the Downers Grove and Oak Park offices, followed by the Waukegan office prior to retirement. An avid follower of the news on both CNN and Fox, she also enjoyed collecting banks and four leaf clovers.
Survivors include three children, Randall (Denise) Coates of Orange Park, FL, Karen (Brian) Battisfore of Round Lake Park, and Elizabeth (Erik) Vandenbroek of Jacksonville; eight grandchildren, Breanna, Bridgit, Jenna, Jaden, Raelynn, Kristin, Johnathan, and Jacob; four sisters, Marie (late James) Pilman, Catherine (the late Raymond) Sawinski, Gloria Calabrese, Margaret (David) Cantwell; two brothers, Pascal (Patricia) Mazuc and George (Rosemary) Mazuc; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ralph, on August 16, 2010; two brothers, Fritz and Peter; and a sister, Frances.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Wednesday, October 12, 2011, at Justen’s Round Lake Funeral Home, 222 N. Rosedale Court, Round Lake, IL 60973.
Visitation will resume Thursday from 8:30 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home, before leaving for the 10 a.m. funeral Mass at St. Joseph Church, Round Lake.
Interment will be in Ascension Cemetery, Libertyville. Memorials would be appreciated to the American Cancer Society.
