Marilyn Kennedy of Round Lake Beach, IL, and formerly from Chicago passed away in her home on February 24th 2021. Marilyn was born on May 8th, 1947 in Chicago to beloved parents of the late Nancy (nee Tomasello) and Marvin T. Knight.
Marilyn was a hard-working single mother who persevered despite some very tragic moments in her life. She was the pillar of unbelievable strength and unconditional love. She selflessly took care of her mother during her later years, sometimes while working two jobs. Her home was always open to anyone who wanted to drop by for conversation and a game of cards. She was known for her feistiness, fun spirit and wonderful home cooking, especially her famous lasagna and meatballs to name a few and no one ever went hungry while at her home. But most of all, Marilyn was known for being the center of her family and for living life on her terms. She was fearless, strong and good to everyone. She will be remembered by all who were lucky enough to know her and she will be deeply missed by all. May God hold her in his eternal peace and may she be with The Lord our savior in Heaven.
She is survived by her children, Dawn Insco (Walter Schuster), and Brian Kennedy; granddaughter Jordan (nee Kennedy) Fox; her niece Suzanne Knight (Martin Conneely), great niece Faith Conneely and great nephew Quinn Conneely. She has many aunts, uncles and cousins who adored her as well as many friends.
She is preceded in death by her loving brother, Thomas M. Knight and sister Maria Knight who only lived a short time on this earth.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Justen’s Funeral Home Round Lake IL. For information, please call the funeral home at 847-546-3300, or visit www.justenfh.com, where friends and loved ones may share memories of Marilyn on her tribute wall.
