A compassionate, devoted and deeply caring mother, daughter and spouse, Marilyn “Lynn” Cook passed away on Sunday, April 24, 2022.
Born on March 20, 1973, in Chicago, IL, from the moment she arrived Marilyn was lovingly known as Lynn. Her dad taught her to throw and to catch, and she utilized those skills for years on the softball field.
Tightly bonded with her neighborhood friends, she played with everyone equally and had a unique ability to unite those around her, never leaving anyone out.
With an infectious smile and sparkling eyes, Lynn was the most compassionate person you’d ever meet. She cared for everyone and would do absolutely anything to help, always putting others ahead of herself. With Lynn’s loving heart and outgoing personality, strangers warmed up to her instantly.
She loved UFC fights and was perpetually quoting statistics; she thoroughly enjoyed singing — especially harmonizing with her dad. Country music was her favorite genre.
Fond family memories include visiting Dollywood, sitting alongside a campfire and traveling to Eagle River. Always adventurous, Lynn loved to see new places.
She doted on her daughter Sarah, who she considered her greatest accomplishment. She was also fiercely loyal to her beloved older brothers.
Lynn is survived by her mother Karen, her father Donnie, her brothers Donnie Jr. and Eric, her spouse James, her daughter Sarah, her son-in-law Trevor, many other family members and her dog Bailey and cat Kitty Kitty.
She was predeceased by her brothers Joel Daly and Bobby Ray, her grandparents Henry and Hester Cook, her grandmother June McLain, her grandfather Robert McLain and many aunts and uncles.
Lynn’s huge heart is her legacy, and her warm, caring nature was a lifelong gift to all those who knew her. In the words of Thucydides: “What you leave behind is not what is engraved in stone monuments but what is woven into the lives of others.”
A visitation for Lynn will be held Friday, April 29, 2022, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Justen’s Round Lake Funeral Home. On Saturday, April 30, 2022, there’ll be a visitation from 10 to 11 a.m. and a service at the funeral home at 11 a.m. Interment at Grant Township Cemetery to follow.
