Marilyn Mae Milinac, age 82, of McHenry, passed away Sunday, September 4, 2016, at her residence, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born August 31, 1934, in Creston, IA, to Ross and (Velma Osborn) Hermon. In 1955 she married Franklin “Bud” Milinac, in Milburn, IL.
Marilyn spent most of her childhood in Iowa, before relocating to Illinois when she was a young teen. She graduated from Grayslake High School in 1952. She held positions at various jobs, including Admiral in McHenry. Marilyn was a valued employee of Signode Steel (ITW), and retired in October 1999.
Marilyn had many interests and loves that included arts and crafts, making her own beautiful hand-crafted greeting cards. She enjoyed cooking, finding and creating new recipes, sometimes planning meals months ahead of time or looking forward to making some new twist on ‘s’mores. She loved doing puzzles and playing video solitaire. She enjoyed genealogy and researching her family’s history. She loved her pets. She enjoyed the outdoors, camping. She enjoyed traveling, and visiting extended family in other states for reunions. Any event that brought family together was important to her. She particularly loved and looked forward to time spent with her grandchildren. She devoted her entire life and all her resources to the needs of her family. She possessed a wonderful sense of humor and loved to laugh, even if it was at herself. She rarely had a harsh word. It was her nature to unselfishly put others before herself. Her generosity, love and caring was the core of who she was. We are all blessed to have known her, and the contributions she has made to make us better people is immeasurable.
Marilyn is survived by her three children; John (Victoria) Milinac, Dawn (David) Johnston, Michael (Drinda) Milinac; eleven grandchildren; Evan (Cristal Tucker) Milinac, Marc Milinac, Ireland Milinac, McLaren Milinac, Tristen Milinac, Jacob (Andraia Leja) Kovac, Matthew Kovac, McKenna Kovac, Jessica (Trey) Draffkorn, Heather Johnston, Andy Johnston; two great-grandchildren, Elinor and Caden; her sister Rosemary (the late Howard) Shrauger; her brother Gene (the late Barbara) Hermon; and her brother-in-law Robert Edgar.
The Family would like to acknowledge and give special thanks to Linda Peterson, Gene, Pam, and the entire Hermon family, Kelly and the entire Anderson family and countless others for their love, support and prayers given to Marilyn.
In addition to her parents, Marilyn is preceded in death by her sister Evelyn Edgar, and her longtime close friend, Max James.
