Marion S. Hemeyer, age 92, of McHenry, died Monday, June 25, 2007 at her home.
She was born September 14, 1914 in Clarksburg, West Virginia to Charles and Lydia (Dougan) Parker. On November 24, 1938 she married Karl P. Hemeyer in Clarksburg, West Virginia.
Marion’s husband was a Lt. Colonel in the Army. During his time in the service they lived in many different places throughout the United States and Germany. They included Clarksburg, West Virginia, Zanesville, Ohio, San Pedro, California, Columbia, Tennessee, Mannheim, Germany, Colombia, South Carolina, and Woodstock, Illinois before they settled in McHenry in 1979.
She was employed as a medical secretary at St. Mary’s Hospital in Clarksburg, Maury County Hospital in Columbia, Tennessee and with a private physician for 15 years in Columbia, South Carolina. She was a former member of St. Patrick’s Church in McHenry and an Auxiliary volunteer at Northern Illinois Medical Center.
Survivors include three children, Nancy Schultz of McHenry, Karl P. (Dora) Hemeyer Jr. of Las Vegas, Nevada, Mark Hemeyer of Little Rock, Arkansas; twelve grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; and a sister Anne (Noble) Douglas of Columbus, Ohio.
She was preceded in death by her husband Lt. Colonel Karl P. Hemeyer on Jan. 22, 2002; her parents; and two sisters, Helen Todd and Ruth Wilson.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m., June 29, 2007 at the George R. Justen & Son Funeral Home, 3519 W. Elm St., McHenry, Il 60050.
The funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on June 30, at The Church of Holy Apostles, 5211 W. Bull Valley Road, McHenry, Il.
Interment in McHenry County Memorial Park Cemetery, Woodstock.
