Mary Barbara Norman, age 62, of Grayslake, passed away Friday, June 2, 2017, with family by her side at Northwestern Lake Forest Hospital. For the past two years, Mary bravely fought a difficult battle with cancer, always determined and never hesitating to take on the next procedure or treatment.
She was born April 30, 1955 in Chicago to Robert and Loretta (Spranger) Walleck. On September 17, 1983 at an outdoor ceremony in Wildwood, Mary was united in marriage with Robert Norman Jr.
Survivors include her husband of 33 years, Robert; three children, Robert III, Lindsey, and Derek Norman; three brothers, Robert, James, and Thomas Walleck; her sister, Susan Walleck; eight nieces and nephews, James, Christopher, Robert, Sheena, Katie, Jeff, Jason, and Michael; and Mary’s best friend, Marta Grote.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents.
Friends are invited to gather to visit with Mary’s family from 4 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 8, 2017, at Justen’s Round Lake Funeral Home, 222 N. Rosedale Court, Round Lake, IL 60073. A service to celebrate Mary’s life will follow at 7:30 p.m. Private inurnment will take place in Grant Cemetery, Ingleside.
For those wishing to send an expression of condolence, her family suggests memorials in Mary’s honor to the American Cancer Society.
Her family would like to thank Rush University Medical Center, Northwestern Medicine, University of Chicago, DuPage Medical, and especially the Infusion Center of Grayslake for their loving care of Mary.
