Mary Jo Bastean, age 84, of Fox Lake, passed away Tuesday, November 17, 2015, at Centegra Hospital-McHenry.
Mary Jo was born August 19, 1931 in Madison, IN to Paul J. and Anna Laura (Buchanan) Peddie. On October 30, 1954, she married the love of her life Albert Bastean at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church in Madison, IN.
Mary Jo was raised and educated in Madison, IN, formerly of Quincy and Chicago, IL. She later moved with her family to Round Lake, where they resided for many years before moving to Adams, WI. For the last few years Mary Jo and Albert have lived in Fox Lake. Throughout the years Mary Jo held a variety of jobs trying to help support her growing family, her most current employment was in production at Baxter. She was an avid reader, enjoyed needlepoint and playing Bingo.
Mary Jo is survived by her husband of 61 years, Albert; four children, Scott William Bastean of Ingleside, Kathleen (Victor) Suberla of Adams, WI, Steven (Cindy) Bastean of Trevor, WI, Todd Robert Bastean of Ingleside; 14 grandchildren, Christopher, Ashley, Michael, Crystal, Susan, Nicole, Jorden, Amanda, Kyle, Baylee, Steven M., Marissa, Melissa, Corey; 11 great-grandchildren, Jesse, Ryan, Adrian, Willow, Bubba, Hayden, Abigail, Hailee, Michael, Grace, Carson; four brothers, Paul Kirby (Bonnie) Peddie of Mentor, IN, James William (Paula) Peddie of Orlando, FL, Richard (Toi) Peddie of MI, David (Barbara) Peddie of Madison, IN; brother and sister-in-laws, Poogie Grooms, Robert (Jan) Bastean of Quincy, IL, Lowell II (the late Susanne) Wasson of Quincy, Florence (John) Harmon of Quincy, Thomas Bastean of Pekin, IL and Bernard “Butch” (Mary) Bastean.
In addition to her parents, Mary Jo is preceded in death by her son, Kevin Michael Bastean, her daughter, Barbara Ann Bastean, her sisters, Jean, Lenore, Susanne, Kathleen, and her brothers, Jon and Robert.
Friends and neighbors are invited to gather from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. Sunday, November 22, 2015 at Justen’s Round Lake Funeral Home, 222 N. Rosedale Court, Round Lake, IL 60073. There will be a memorial service at 4 p.m. at the funeral home.
