Michael G. Lossmann, age 26, of McHenry, died Thursday, April 22, 2010, at his residence.
He was born March 11, 1984 in Barrington to George A. and Maureen (O’Brien) Lossmann. Michael attended Parkland Middle School and graduated from McHenry High School-West Campus.
Despite many health challenges Michael faced in his lifetime battle with Duchenne muscular dystrophy, he was “Mr. Sunshine” to his friends and family. Even his healthcare workers admired his positive attitude and the ever-present smile on his face. He enjoyed visiting with his friends and the company of his brother, going to car shows and admiring fast cars, taking boat rides, and the companionship of his beloved Chihuahua, Taco, who was his protector.
He is survived by his parents, George and Maureen Lossmann and his brother, Matthew, all of McHenry.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Robert and Dorothy O’Brien and his paternal grandparents, Elmo and Shirley Lossmann; and an aunt, Janice Lossmann.
Services will be held Tuesday, April 27, at Justen Funeral Home & Crematory, 3700 W. Charles Miller Road, McHenry, IL 60050. The funeral service will take place first, with visitation immediately following the funeral service. The funeral service will be at 4 p.m. at the funeral home, with Rev. Robert Sherry officiating, and visitation will continue after the funeral service until 7 p.m.
Interment will be private in Mount Carmel Cemetery, Hillside.
His family suggests memorials to the Muscular Dystrophy Association, P. O. Box 78960, Phoenix, AZ 85062, or to PPMD (Parent Project Muscular Dystrophy), 158 Linwood Plaza, Ste 220, Ft. Lee, NY 07024.
