A wonderful man who treasured his family and set a shining example of a father and husband, Molisa Unkemetsi Gwate passed away on March 11, 2022.
Born on January 12, 1969, in Gwanda, Zimbabwe, Molisa attended Cyrene Mission Boys High School outside Bulawayo. He thrived there and made many fond memories.
Molisa took his studies seriously and flourished academically. This dedication led to a scholarship from Concordia College in Selma, AL. He then moved to Mequon, WI, to obtain his B.S. In Computer Science at Concordia University. It was there that he met his beloved wife, May.
He went on to graduate school at Marquette University of Milwaukee where he received his Master of Science.
Graceful and reserved with a warm smile, Molisa was patient, agreeable and extremely intelligent. A natural teacher, he loved to help his children with their homework. Despite his quiet nature, he had an outstanding sense of humor and could tell a joke with impeccable comedic timing.
A masterful chef, Molisa pursued a lifelong passion for cooking by watching culinary shows, replicating recipes and delighting family and friends with his delicious creations. Also an avid reader, his impressive library contained everything from advanced engineering and mathematics to autobiographies of thought leaders.
A truly ideal husband (and father), Molisa treated his wife like a treasure, a trusted friend and a partner. He showered her in love, kindness and respect.
Above all of his other accomplishments, Molisa was proud to have raised two incredible children, both of whom are smart, ambitious and compassionate.
Molisa is survived by his wife May Gwate; his daughter Hannah Gwate; his son Nathaniel Gwate; his father Mr. Jeremiah D. Gwate; his mother Mrs. Margaret Noko; and his sister Mrs. Oneile Hall.
Molisa’s kind nature, unparalleled integrity and compassionate heart will be deeply missed by his family and friends. In the words of Maya Angelou: “Precious jewel, you glowed, you shone, reflecting all the good things in the world.”
