Nancy H. Strieter, age 90, of McHenry, passed away Sunday, February 4, 2018, at Centegra-Hospital in McHenry. She was born June 26, 1927, in Evanston, to Carroll and Elsie (Tanner) Huntington. She married Richard Strieter on December 6, 1952 in Evanston.
Nancy was a resident of Morton Grove for over 30 years, then she called Harvard home for 15 years, eventually spending the last 16 years in McHenry near her daughter. Nancy received her Master’s Degree in Library Science, and worked as a Librarian for many years in Harvard and Glenview. She was an active member of The Harvard Woman’s Club, helping with a variety of activities and charity events. Nancy had a great love for animals, especially horses, cats, and dogs.
Nancy is survived by her two daughters, Sally (Patrick) Ramsay of McHenry, Ann (Monty) Huntington-Smith of Eugene, OR; her sister, Carolyn Huntington of East Troy, WI.; two Grandchildren, John Richard (Jillian) Ramsay of McHenry, Nicole Angela Ramsay of McHenry; and two Great-Grandchildren, Ella Grace Ramsay and Clara Elizabeth Ramsay.
In addition to her parents, Nancy was preceded in death by her husband, Richard.
Friends and neighbors may gather from 2:30 p.m. until 3 p.m., Sunday, February 11, 2018 at The First Presbyterian Church of Harvard, 7100 Harvard Hills Road, Harvard, IL 60033. The Celebration of Life Service will begin at 3 p.m.
The cremation rite was accorded privately. Inurnment will be private for Nancy’s family.
