At the age of 51, Nancy (Surace) Hendrickson passed away unexpectedly in her home on April 28, 2017. She was born on February 22, 1966 in Park Ridge, IL to Tom and Judi Surace and graduated from Maine East High School in 1984. In 1988, she received her Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from Iowa State University and earned her CPA and went on to earn her MBA from Keller Graduate School of Management in 1992. Nancy was a CPA at Steel and Associates.
It was on a blind date that she met the love of her life, David Hendrickson. They married on March 1, 1997 and together built their home and family in Round Lake Beach, IL. Her most valuable treasure and greatest sense of accomplishment were found in devoting herself to their three daughters, Kelly, 29, Maddie, 17, and Abby, 16.
Nancy was a beautiful, accomplished and loving woman who was a joy and an inspiration to all who were blessed to know her. She set high standards for herself and worked hard to achieve them. Nancy loved the outdoors and especially enjoyed biking. She loved to work out and was dedicated to achieving her fitness goals. She was a master at bargain hunting, and a financial wiz. She enjoyed the Thursday night softball team and traveling to Arizona, Florida, and Maui. She always looked forward to the redneck weekend in Wisconsin on ATVs and vacationing in Michigan with family.
Nancy ran at life full speed. She was goodness itself. She was generous. She was kind beyond kind. She was thoughtful, smart and canny, and lived entirely from her heart. She wasn’t interested in judgment or conflict. She just wanted to love, laugh and do great work. Nancy always looked on the bright side of every situation and was unfailingly warm and loving to everyone she met. She was a beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend who will be deeply missed. She will best be remembered for her resilient spirit, generous heart and abounding strength.
How simple. How extraordinary. The world was a better place with Nancy in it, and we will forever MISS her to the depths of our hearts and souls.
She is survived by her husband of 20 years, David; daughters, Kelly Besaw (Chad), Madelyn Marie and Abigail Rose; mother, Judi Surace; sisters, Cheryl (John) Mickelsen, Amy (Jim) Bonsignore and Paula (Ken) Paras; grandchildren, Marshall and Charlotte; nephews, Caleb, Thomas, Ara, David, Kyle and Austin and nieces, Mariana, Bethany and Gracie. Nancy was preceded in death by her father, Tom Surace, and grandparents.
