Neva Imogene Mass, age 103, of McHenry, died Tuesday, November 13, 2012 at Kindred Hospital in Sycamore.
She was born June 15, 1909 in Elgin to Zern and Mabel (Heldt) Lusted.
Neva moved from Elgin to Algonquin in the 1960’s and then to McCullom Lake for many years. She had worked in clerical for Hills Nursery in Dundee and later worked with her husband as a corporate officer for Mass Construction, previously of Algonquin, now in McHenry.
Neva raised and showed quarter horses, several of which were National Champions. She was a Girl Scout Leader, member of St. Patrick Church, St. Pat’s Ladies Guild, and member of McHenry’s American Legion Auxiliary Unit 491. She also enjoyed working crossword puzzles.
Survivors include her three children, Edward (Wanda) Mass of McCullom Lake, Anita McMahon of Carpentersville, Melinda Mass of Crossville, AL; 14 grandchildren; and 28 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Mass in 1987; her parents; two sisters, Betty and Virginia; a brother, Zern Lusted; and a son-in-law, Daniel McMahon.
Visitation will be on Monday, November 19, 2012 from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Justen Funeral Home & Crematory, 3700 W. Charles J. Miller Road, McHenry, IL 60050.
Visitation will continue on Tuesday, November 20, at the funeral home from 8:30 a.m. until 9:20 a.m. proceeding to the 10 a.m. funeral Mass at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 3500 W. Washington, McHenry, IL
Inurnment will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, November 21, in St. John Nepomucene Cemetery, Fox River Grove.
