Norma M. McDowell, age 89, of Wonder Lake, passed away Wednesday, March 18, 2015, at Valley Hi Nursing Home, surrounded by her loving family.
Norma was born September 29, 1925 in Chicago to Ben and Marie (Halter) Kranig. She was a resident of Wonder Lake for over 18 years, and was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church in Wonder Lake. Prior to retirement, Norma was employed for over 20 years for the Solo Paper Products Co.
She enjoyed old movies, especially those with Shirley Temple and Betty Davis. Most of all, she loved family gatherings and being a part of the activities with her family.
Survivors include two children, Susan Keener of Wonder Lake and Janet McDowell of Wonder Lake; a grandson, Frank (Crystal) Keener; a brother, Jeff (Nancy) Kranig of Justice; a sister, June (the late William) McDowell of Algonquin; and two sisters-in-law, Marge Kranig of Texas and Marge Kranig of Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin.
In addition to her parents, Norma was preceded in death by her husband, Frank McDowell, on January 24, 2012; her son-in-law, William Keener; and five brothers, LeRoy, Benny, Jerry, Raymond, and Robert Kranig.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 21, 2015, at Justen’s Wonder Lake Funeral Home, 7611 W. Hancock Drive, Wonder Lake, IL 60097. The funeral Mass will be at noon Saturday at Christ the King Catholic Church, 5006 East Wonder Lake Road, Wonder Lake, IL 60097.
Interment will be in Christ the King Cemetery, Wonder Lake.
