Norman J. Rodgers, age 82, of Round Lake Beach, died Wednesday, May 25, 2011 at Condell Medical Center in Libertyville.
He was born October 2, 1928 in Chicago to James and Emily (Davidson) Rodgers. On September 18, 1954 he married Evelyn M. Benjamin in Chicago.
Norman was a veteran of the U.S. Army Special Services with the rank of PFC serving during WWII.
Previously of Rolling Meadows, Norman had resided in the Round Lake area for the past 20 years. He attended three years of college and was employed in sales for Booth Seafood and also Seapak Seafood for 15 years retiring in 1995. Norman enjoyed the companionship of his favorite canine Lightning.
Survivors include his wife Evelyn of 56 years; a daughter, Cynthia Rodgers of Round Lake Beach; two sister-in-laws, Shirley (Lee) Deming of Zion, Jean (the late Robert) Bell of Wilmette; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be on Monday, May 30, 2011 from 5 p.m. until prayers are said at 8 p.m. at Justen’s Round Lake Funeral Home, 222 W. North Rosedale Court (at Cedar Lake Road), Round Lake, IL 60073.
Inurnment will be private.
