Born April 21, 1931, the 8th of 9 children of Thomas and Lucille Geraty, Pat called Chicago home for many years. She was a 1949 graduate of Immaculata High School.
On July 11, 1953 she married the love of her life, John, at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church. Over the next five years, Pat and John resided in Salt Lake City, Utah, Atlanta, Georgia and Chicago, before finally settling in McHenry in 1958.
Pat spent her life as a devoted Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother while offering her dedicated and active service to her parish, St Patrick’s Catholic Church for more than 63 years.
After raising 14 children and knowing a thing or two about cooking for a large group, Pat managed the cafeteria at McHenry West High School for over 25 years, retiring in her late 70’s.
Survivors include her children, James (Kathleen) Coughlin, Michael (Annette) Coughlin, Robert (the late Cathleen) Coughlin, Maribeth (David) Dhom, William (Lisa) Coughlin, Daniel (JoAnne) Coughlin, Theresa (Timothy) Lewandowski, Margaret (Thomas) Visconti, Timothy (Margaret) Coughlin, Patricia (Timothy) DeRoo and Karen (Jarett) Pump; 40 loving grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband John, her sons Laurence and Kevin and her daughter Kathryn O’Brien.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Sunday, December 26, 2021 at Justen Funeral Home and Crematory, 3700 W. Charles J. Miller Road, McHenry, IL 60050. The funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Monday, December 27, 2021, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, McHenry. Interment will be in St. Patrick Countryside Cemetery, McHenry.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her name to St. Patrick’s Parish or Journey Care are appreciated.
