Patrick “Rocky” Rorig, age 47, died Sunday, February 19, 2012, at Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville.
He was born October 8, 1964 in Arlington Heights to Jack W. and Margaret M. (Connery) Rorig. On September 17, 1988, he married Cynthia Lynn Short at St. John the Baptist Church in Johnsburg.
He was a 1982 graduate of Johnsburg High School. After high school, he began his career in construction working for George Hiller & Son for 14 years. There, he learned valuable skills he would later take to his own firm, Rorig Homes, a custom home building firm he founded in 1999. A hard worker with boundless energy, he used his talents to create unique, high quality homes for his clients.
Known affectionately by his family as “Munch”, his biggest enjoyment and proudest achievement in life was his family. He often told his wife how much he loved his boys. He treasured his entire family, always remembering special days with a personal call to relay best wishes for birthdays or special occasions. Passionate about sports, especially tennis or golf, he was always willing to join in any activity he could do with his kids. Fun loving and always optimistic, family and friends will truly miss this man with a “heart of gold”.
Survivors include his wife of 23 years, Cindy; three sons, Kevin of Vail, CO, Terence and Sean, both of Johnsburg; four siblings, Peggy (David) Schmidt and Bill (Ruth) Rorig, both of Lake Geneva, Mary (Pat) Letizia of Spring Grove, and Jim (Ramona) Rorig of Union; his in-laws, Richard & Barbara Short of Fox Lake; two brothers-in-law, Richard (Lisa) Short of San Jose, CA, and Patrick (Gretchen) Short of Spring Grove; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and an infant brother, John.
