Penelope Evelyn (Kerrigan, Lysen) Wilkins, age 79, of Hampshire, IL, formerly of McHenry, passed away Saturday, January 16, 2016, at Advocate Sherman Hospital in Elgin. She was born September 21, 1936, in Chicago to Thomas and Evelyn (Morman) Kerrigan.
Penny and her first husband, Robert Lysen, owned and operated for 23 years the second Baskin-Robbins ice cream store to open in Illinois (Lake Forest). After the store closed, she worked in a variety of jobs and places including Wells Manufacturing; Coldwater Creek; Bed, Bath & Beyond; and Anderson Motors. She also enjoyed cheering on her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren at their various sports events and dance recitals. She lived a full life and was blessed with a large, loving family and many dear friends.
Penny is survived by her four children, Scott (Jena) Lysen of Andover, KS, Beth Scott of Hampshire, Michelle (Paul) Bohr of Novi, MI, and Jeff Lysen of Las Vegas, NV; twelve grandchildren, Braden, Devan, Dylan, Nicole (Scott Ouimette), James, Christopher, Brett (Adeline), Justin, Ryan, Brandon (Danielle), Sydney and Payton; seven great-grandchildren, Gabrielle, Mya, Kyle, Noah, Owen, Annabelle, and Madelynn; and her loving brother and sister-in-law, Richard (Sue) Kerrigan of Jacksonville, FL, as well as three step-children, eight step-grandchildren, and two step-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Penny is preceded in death by her first husband, Robert Lysen, and her second husband, Virgil Wilkins.
