Phyllis M. Trychta (Caruso) age 82 of Mundelein, IL and Hallandale Beach, FL passed away on Saturday August 21, 2021. She was born in Chicago, IL. The daughter of Philip and Bella (nee Bufalino) Caruso. Phyllis was the proud mother of 4 daughters, Pamela (Richard) Lenzie, Christine (Timothy) Malone, Gina (Denise Philyaw) Trychta, Maria (Thomas) Sullivan, 7 grandchildren, Joseph (Stacy) Lenzie, Richard (Christina) Lenzie, Michael (Bayli) Lenzie, Dennis (Jess, friend) Lenzie, Anthony (Emily) Lenzie, Anna (Daniel, fiancé) Sullivan and Emily Sullivan, 7 great grandchildren, Andrew and Maxwell Lenzie, Kaden Sandoval, Elijah Cormican, Nora Lenzie, Jesse and Asher Lenzie, sister Mary Ann (Joseph) Stiglianese, sister in law Diana Caruso. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Joseph Trychta, brothers Philip Caruso and Charles Caruso, sister in law Antoinette Caruso, her niece Nancy Brunton and nephew Guy Caruso.
Phyllis grew up in Chicago where she attended Jones Commercial High School, married Joseph on September 14, 1957 in Chicago, moved to Island Lake and then to Barrington where she raised her family. Phyllis pursued her cosmetology career after her 2 year old got a bad haircut. Her home salon was her base but her passion for helping people and love of hairdressing showed up in many aspects of her life. Phyllis volunteered her services at family holidays, PADs, nursing homes, haircuts on the beach, and even funeral homes. Phyllis sparkled in her rhinestones, hair, clothes, jewelry and make up. She was always ready for a new adventure, traveling, dancing, cooking classes and never passed a garage sale without stopping. She loved to entertain and everything tasted better dipped in chocolate, there wasn’t a recipe she couldn’t improve. While enjoying her cocktails, it was all about the glass. Phyllis never met a person she didn’t like, her friends and family were blessed and will forever be touched by her unending unconditional love.
Arrangements for Phyllis’s cremation were handled by Justen Funeral Home and Crematory in McHenry, IL. A visitation will be held on Saturday August 28, 2021 from 12:00 pm until 1:00 with Her Catholic funeral mass to follow at 1 o’clock at The Church of Holy Apostles, McHenry, IL. The mass will be live streamed and can be found on the church’s website, where it will remain there for a year.
