Raymond F. Etten, age 86, died Saturday, July 15, 2006, at Wauconda Care Center. He was born November 12, 1919 in Volo to William and Anna (Weingart) Etten.
Formerly of McCullom Lake, he moved to Wonder Lake in 1980, where he resided until becoming a resident of the Wauconda Care Center in 2004. Retiring in 1978, he was a farmer and cattleman, working for Hickory Creek Farm and then for Northern Pump Farm for 38 years.
He attended Christ the King Church in Wonder Lake and St. Mary’s Church in McHenry, and was a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters, St. Mary’s Court 594, and the Knights of Columbus Council 1288. He enjoyed playing cards, horse shoes, and was an avid Cubs fan. He loved to watch his favorite TV show, Wheel of Fortune.
Survivors include four children, Theresa (Ray) Franklin of McHenry, Carol Etten of Woodstock, Dan (Diane) Etten of Wauconda, and Cindy (Ed) Fetingis of McHenry; five grandchildren, Ryan(fiancee’ Erin) Franklin, Brooke (Travis) Miller, Dane Etten, Devyn Etten, and Dara (Geoff) Lauritzen; two step grandchildren, Ed (Samantha) Fetingis and Julie Fetingis; a great grandchild, Carly Lauritzen; a brother, William (the late Elaine) Etten of Richmond, and three sisters-in-law, Helen Etten of Grayslake, Bernice Etten of McHenry, and Muriel Anderson of Wisconsin.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Pauline A. Etten on March 2, 1976; twin great grandchildren, Keira and Andrew Lauritzen; four brothers, Clarence, Ed, George, and Herman Etten; and two sisters, Florence Hertel and Marie Brown.
The visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 19, 2006, at the George R. Justen & Son Funeral Home, 3519 W. Elm St., McHenry, IL.
Prayers will be at 9 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home before proceeding in procession to the 10 a.m. funeral Mass at Christ the King Church, 5006 East Wonder Lake Road, Wonder Lake, IL 60097. Interment will be in St. Mary Cemetery, McHenry.
