Raymond G. Seeber, age 92, of McHenry, died Wednesday, January 23, 2013, at The Springs of Crystal Lake.
He was born April 13, 1920 in Chicago to Joseph and Emma (Heiser) Seeber. Raymond was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving during World War II. While in the service, he married Jean Nagorny of Chicago on September 29, 1945 at his naval base in Florida.
Raymond was an electronics technician for his entire career, having learned the fundamentals as an electrician during his military training. While working for General Electric, Bausch & Lomb, and Standard Coil, his career took him to such countries as Korea, Germany, Puerto Rico, Chile, and England.
Formerly a resident of Mount Prospect for many years, Raymond lived in McHenry for over 20 years. He was a longtime member of Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in McHenry, and was an avid woodworker for most of his lifetime.
Survivors include a son, Ray K. (Teresa) Seeber of Carrollton, TX, a daughter, Betty (Vern) Anderson of Cary; six grandchildren, Nannette, Christopher, Jenine, Alyssa, Erik, and Carl; four great-grandchildren, Zach, Harrison, Lena, and William; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 62 years, Jean; a daughter, Arlette; an infant son, Kenneth; a brother, Edwin Seeber; and a sister, Edith Ristau Carson.
Visitation will be from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. Sunday, January 27, 2013, at Justen Funeral Home & Crematory, 3700 W. Charles J. Miller Road, McHenry, IL 60050.
The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Monday, January 28, 2013, at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, 404 N. Green Street, McHenry, with the Rev. Roger Schneider officiating. Friends may visit with his family at church Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
Inurnment will be at a later date in Ridgewood Cemetery, Des Plaines.
