Richard A. Dietz, age 66, of Fox Lake, passed away on September 11, 2018 at Independence Grove. He was born on July 6, 1952 to Raymond and Dorothy (Wicks) Dietz in Waukegan. On October 7, 1972, he married the love of his life, Janice Firnbach, in Round Lake.
Formerly of Ingleside, Richard served his community as an arborist for Asplundh Tree Company for 47 years. Each day, he monitored the trees with his coworkers to ensure they did not interfere with the powerlines until his retirement in January of 2018.
Richard was an avid outdoorsman who found deep joy in his regular runs through Independence Grove with his wife, Janice. He always found time for sports, especially football and baseball, and cheered on Chicago’s teams, the Bears and the Cubs. A true bratwurst aficionado, Richard treasured spending time with his family and cooking them great food.
Left behind to cherish his memory is his cherished wife, Janice; his beloved children, Jason (Dawn) Dietz, Jessie (Bill) Lloyd, Shelly (Aaron) Salzman; his dear grandchildren, Brianna, Delanie, Sophia, Audrey, Wil, Emma; and his siblings, Joe (Judy) Dietz and Evelyn (Tom) Wells.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents.
