Johnsburg- Richard “Dick” Luther, age 79, of Johnsburg, died July 11, 2006 at Northern Illinois Medical Center, McHenry. He was born March 1, 1927 in Oak Park to Raymond and Anne (Farner) Luther. He married Lucille Boccasile on June 14, 1950 in Chicago.
He grew up in Deerfield and Chicago, and enlisted in the United States Army out of high school. After his honorable discharge from the U.S. Army, Dick was employed as a lithographer by Cadillac Printing (currently Lehigh Printing) in Broadview. He retired in 1987. He was a member of Chicago Graphic Arts Union Local 458. In 1978, he and his family relocated to the Johnsburg area. He was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose McHenry Lodge 691.
Dick was an avid fisherman, and was passionate about his vegetable garden.
Survivors include his wife Lucille of Johnsburg; his son Richard (Doris) Marrone of Hot Springs Village, AR; granddaughters Lisa (Mike) Kuhn of Wheaton, and Christine Marrone of Wheaton; sister Dorothy (Charles) Cihlar of Sturgeon Bay, WI; and aunts Mildred of Wheeling, and Gladys of West Virginia.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother Robert Luther.
The visitation will be from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm on Saturday, July 15, 2006, at the George R. Justen & Son Funeral Home, 3519 W. Elm Street, McHenry.
The memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, July 15, 2006 at the funeral home.
Inurnment will be private.
