He was born on January 5, 1938, in Fort Smith, AR, to Walter George and Clarice Helen (Sievers) Metschke. He met and married the love of his life Margaret Shields in Waukegan, IL.
Richard was an avid Nascar fan. He was a sports enthusiast, even for tennis and bowling. He loved anything with an engine, including trains and planes.
Richard is survived by his loving wife; Margaret, his children; Richard (Kayla) Metschke, and Renee Metschke, and his siblings; Kathleen (Joe) Herald, Ronald (Debra) Metschke, David Metschke, and Rebecca (Cory) Metschke.
He was preceded in death by a daughter; Debra and his parents; Walter George and Clarice Helen (Sievers) Metschke.
Visitation will be held at the Justen’s Round Lake Funeral Home, 222 N. Rosedale Court, Round Lake, IL, on Wednesday, March 16, 2022, from 4-7 pm. Visitation will resume on Thursday, March 17, 2022, from 10-11 am with a funeral service at 11 am at the Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Avon Cemetery, 21300 W. Shorewood Road, Grayslake, IL. In an effort to keep all attendees safe, face coverings are required.
