Rita E. Kavanaugh, age 86, of Lake Villa, died Saturday, March 3, 2007 at Winchester House in Libertyville.
She was born January 26, 1921 in Chicago to Arthur and Lorraine (Seitz) Parker.
Formerly of Chicago, Rita had been a resident of Lake County since 1964. She worked as a telephone operator at Illinois Bell for 35 years at the Libertyville station.
She frequented casinos and loved to play bingo and Scrabble. She also enjoyed shopping and spending time with her family.
Survivors include her children, Cathy (Tom) Donnelly of Fort Myers, FL, Jim (Karen) Sazama of Chicago, Dennis (Mary Ann) Sazama of Ocala, FL, Patricia (Mark) Schulz of Shawno, WI, and Marion (Mark) Gorsuch of Fox Lake; 14 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Rose Erkelens of Lake Villa.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Kavanaugh; her parents; two brothers, Art Parker and Jim Parker.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 10, at Calvary Presbyterian Church, 510 N. Cedar Lake Rd., Round Lake, IL. The Rev. Lisle Kauffman will officiate.
Inurnment will be private.
