Robert J. Kwit Sr., age 78, of McHenry, formerly of Westfield, Wisconsin, died Tuesday, February 14, 2006 at the Fountains of Crystal Lake.
He was born September 10, 1927 in Chicago to Anton and Matilda (Matusek) Kwit. On May 15, 1946 he married Lucille M. Stephenson in Long Branch, New Jersey.
Formerly of Westfield, Wisconsin, Robert had lived in McHenry for the past two and a half years. He is a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during WWII. He was employed at TeleType before his retirement. He was a member of the Telephone Pioneer of America and the V.F.W. in Westfield, Wisc. Robert was an avid sports fan, he enjoyed White Sox baseball, football and fishing.
Survivors include his wife, Lucille of 59 years; five children, Sharon (Bill) Lewandowski of Las Vegas, Nevada, Robert (Brenda) Kwit Jr. of Itasca, George Kwit of Adams, Wisc., Jan (Mike) Buchanan of Ingleside, Kim (Rich) Stokluska of Hoffman Estates; seven grandchildren; two great grandchildren; two brothers, Gene (Darlyne) Kwit, Tony (Bonnie) Kwit; and two sisters, Lorretta (Harlan) Coffman, and Irene Page.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, Brian (March 11, 1996); and his parents.
The visitation will be from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday, February 19, 2006, at the George R. Justen & Son Funeral Home, 3519 W. Elm Street, McHenry, IL 60050.
There will be a prayer service at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, February 19, at the funeral home. The Rev. Robert Sherry will officiate.
