Robert J. Wilson, age 59, of Round Lake, Thursday, June 15, 2006 at his home.
He was born August 18, 1947 in Warren, Ohio to Robert E. and Delores (Brunke) Wilson. On December 21, 1968 he married Barbara Hartwick in Asbury Park, New Jersey.
Born and raised in Ohio, Robert lived in Houston Texas from 1983 until moving to Round Lake in 1989.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in Vietnam and with NATO Group from 1970 until 1976. He was a signal school instructor at Fort Gordon, Ga. From 1976 until 1983. He was a member of the American Legion Post 1170. Robert enjoyed building things with his hands; gun repair, and models. He was also interested in military history and was a fan of Star Trek.
He is survived by his wife of 37 years; three children, Scott Wilson of Winthrop Harbor, Colleen Hibbing of Round Lake, James Wilson of Ingleside; four grandchildren, Kyle, Kimberly, Alyssa, Ronnie; his mother, Delores Fondoulis of Ohio; two brothers, Walter (Kim) Donitzen of Ohio, Wayne (Cindy) Donitzen of Ohio; and niece and nephews, Steven (Heidi) Donitzen of Indiana, Jennifer and Mandy Donitzen both of Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert E. Wilson; his stepfather, James Fondoulis; and his grandparents.
Visitation will be held from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, June 20, 2006, at Justen’s Round Lake Funeral Home, 222 N. Rosedale Court (at Cedar Lake Road), Round Lake, Il.
The funeral service will be at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, June 20, at the funeral home. The Rev. Lisle Kaufmann will officiate.
