Robert Walter Jones, age 88, of McHenry, died Tuesday, February 21, 2012 at his home.
He was born September 11, 1923 in Chicago to Walter and Margaret (Licht) Jones. On June 21, 1947 he married Norma Alexander in Chicago.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army where he served as a medic.
Robert was a longtime resident of Melrose Park for over 51 years moving to McHenry in 2008. He was employed with Western Electric as a supervisor building switching systems. He was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America.
Spending time with family was most important to Robert. He was an avid golfer, enjoyed bowling, and was a Chicago Cubs Fan.
Survivors include two children, Cheryl (Vito) Jurkynas of Crystal lake, Donald (Rhonda) Jones of Johnsburg; four grandchildren, Jeffrey Jones, Amy Jones, Kristen Jurkynas, Lauren Jurkynas; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife Norma on May 4, 2008; his parents; and a sister, Lois Scheidler.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, February 26, 2012, at Justen Funeral Home & Crematory, 3700 W. Charles J. Miller Road, McHenry, IL 60050.
Inurnment will be private.
