Ronald Joseph Scheppan, age 83, of Wonder Lake, died Wednesday, April 29, 2020 at Northwestern Medicine McHenry Hospital. He was born March 13, 1937 in Chicago to Paul and Lucille (Miller) Scheppan. On Feb. 4, 1961, he married Carol Gillman. He and Carol were married for only 12 years when she passed away, leaving Ron as a single father raising three daughters
Formerly of Franklin Park, Ron lived in Wonder Lake for the past 14 years. He completed a long career with the Union Pacific Railroad, working there for over 45 years.

A giving, caring man who was very patriotic, Ron was like everyone’s grandpa. He loved pizza and also enjoyed making it as much as he did eating it. His most important thing in life was his family. Above all, he loved them dearly.
He is survived by three daughters: Debra (John) Sajewich , Donna (Jack Sr.) Smith and Sharon (Dennis) Weeks; three grandchildren, Carol (Scott) Grieve, Jack Smith Jr., and Pat (Danielle) Smith; and five great-grandchildren, Mackenzie, Logan, Keegan, Austin, and Evan.
