Roy Clifford French, age 72, of McHenry, died Tuesday, May 1, 2012, at Alden Terrace of McHenry.
He was born May 20, 1939 in Peekskill, New York to Burton and Mable (Wood) French. Roy was peacetime veteran of the U.S. Army.
He had been a resident of McHenry for the past 50 years. He was a pipe fitter for Local 597 and had earned his 50 year pin. He was also the proprietor of the Fitter Inn in Lakemoor for over 10 years.
Roy was a member of the Masonic Lodge No. 158 A.F. & A.M., the Tabala Shriners and the Polish Legion of American Veterans of McHenry. He was an avid fisherman and loved to travel.
He is survived by two children, Brian French and Lori (Kevin) Wilson both of Abelene, Texas; grandchildren, Tiffany and Willamina; and a sister, Edith Fritz of South Carolina.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister Mable; and two brothers, Robert and Richard.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Friday, May 4, 2012 at Justen Funeral Home & Crematory, 3700 W. Charles J. Miller Road, McHenry, IL 60050
There will be a service at 7 p.m. on Friday, May 4, conducted by the Polish Legion of American Veterans of McHenry followed by a Masonic service, McHenry Lodge No. 158 A.F. & A.M. at 8 p.m.
