Ruth Elizabeth Roach, age 90, of McHenry, died Monday, September 29, 2014, at Centegra Hospital-McHenry. She was born February 29, 1924 in Chicago to Chester and Marie (Watts) Clow. Formerly of Chicago, she was a longtime resident of McHenry.
Ruth began her career in Chicago working for Commonwealth Edison. After moving to McHenry, she was employed as a chemical analyst by Morton Chemical in Woodstock. She continued with the company as it transitioned to Morton Thiokol and Rohm-Haas. Later, she worked in food service at Montini Catholic School in McHenry.
Ruth was a devoted and faithful member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in McHenry, where she was also a member of the Ladies Guild and volunteered in the soup kitchen. Other volunteer activities included 1st Way Pregnancy Support Services and the FISH food pantry.
Ruth is survived by a son, Raymond Roach, and a granddaughter, Jennifer Baxley.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Roach, in 1972; a granddaughter, Kyrstin Roach in 1992; a sister, Catherine; and a brother, John.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Friday, October 3, 2014, at Justen Funeral Home & Crematory, 3700 W. Charles J. Miller Road, McHenry, IL 60050. The funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, October 4, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, McHenry.
Interment will be in St. Patrick Countryside Cemetery, McHenry.
