Scott Patrick Sword, age 49, of Huntley and formerly of McHenry, died Thursday, June 26, 2014, at his home.
He was born October 13, 1964 in McHenry to Larry and Mary Alice (O’Connor) Sword.
Scott was a graduate of McHenry High School with the class of 1982. He was employed as a chef at Chapel Hill Country Club from 1982 until 1990. From 1990 to 1995, Scott worked at Woodstock Diecast, and in 1995, he started his own trucking business hauling materials.
Scott was an avid fisherman, and loved to cook. His love of telling stories will be fondly remembered by his family and friends.
Survivors include two children, Maxwell and Sophie; his mother, Mary Alice (George) Kanaly; and two brothers, Todd (Laura) Sword of McHenry and Mark (Jennifer) Sword of Wonder Lake; four nieces, Ashley, Amber, Maggie and Morgan; two step-sisters, Jennifer (Mike) Grechis and Tina (Nick) Nichols; and three step-nieces and nephews, Evan, Ella and Jada.
He was preceded in death by his father, Larry, in 1995.
Friends may visit with his family from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, July 2, 2014, at Justen Funeral Home & Crematory, 3700 W. Charles J. Miller Road, McHenry, IL 60050. The memorial service will be at 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Inurnment will be private.
