Sophie R. Valnoha, age 63, of Round Lake Beach, Died Tuesday, February 14, 2006 at Condell Medical Center, Libertyville.
Born January 18, 1943 in Chicago to John E. And Josephine M. Termini) Grossman. On October 8, 1961 she married Otto Valnoha at Our Lady of the Angels in Chicago.
Formerly of Chicago, Sophie moved to Round Lake Beach in 1972. She was employed as a nurses aid at the Bohemian Retirement Center in Chicago where she met and then married her husband Otto. She volunteer her time as a Cub Scout leader and Girl Scout troop leader. She enjoyed playing bingo, taking an occasional trip to the casinos, traveling, and especially loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and friends.
Survivors include her husband Otto of 44 years; three children, Debbie (Ray) Bandemer of Lakemoor, Thomas (Pam) Valnoha of Round Lake Beach, Michael (Christine) Valnoha of Jacksonville, FL.; six grandchildren, Lisa Moore, Joseph Moore, Elizabeth Valnoha, Taylor Valnoha, Geoffrey Hooven, Grace Bandemer; a great granddaughter, Sierra Costella; a sister, Paula Wrona of Arlington, TX.; and two brothers, John Grossman of Michigan and Matthew Dugovic of Arlington, TX.
She was preceded in death by parents; and a brother, Kenny Grossman.
Visitation will be held on Friday, February, 17, 2006 from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. at Justen’s Round Lake Funeral Home, 222 N. Rosedale Ct. (At Cedar Lake Road), Round Lake.
The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 18, at St. Joseph Church, 114 N. Lincoln, Round Lake, Il.
