Stacey L. Baylen, age 42, of Wauconda, passed away Sunday, June 26, 2016, at her residence, surround by many family and friends.
She was born March 4, 1974 in Skokie, to Alan and (Constance Gourley) Smith. On March 20, 2004, she married Howard Baylen.
Stacey was born and raised in Arlington Heights, where she graduated from Buffalo Grove High School. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in teaching from ISU in Bloomington, and later received her Masters from Roosevelt University. Stacey was a special education teacher for over 17 ½ years, starting her career at Proviso Township, Nipper, and Buffalo Grove High Schools. She coached High School volleyball, softball and children with special needs.
Stacey loved dancing, crafts, and sewing. She was very spiritual, friendly, outgoing, and above all loved her family and spending time with them. She also enjoyed the companionship of her Labradoodle, “Wookie” She was a devoted wife, loving mother, caring sister, dedicated teacher, and thoughtful friend who will be missed by many.
Stacey is survived by her husband, Howard; two sons, Logan, Jake; her parents, Alan (Connie) Smith; her sister, Robyn (Jeff) Klipp; her brother, Ryan Smith; sister-in-law, Sheryl (Tim) Purcell; brother-in-law, Ben Baylen; and eight nieces and nephews, Nathan, Kaycee, Tyler, Jayden, Adam, Cory, Brad, and Amber.
She was preceded in death by her sister-in-law Melody.
The family requests that you dress in colorful clothing to represent Stacey’s colorful spirit. Visitation will be from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m. Thursday, June 30, 2016 at Justen Funeral Home & Crematory, 3700 W. Charles J. Miller Road, McHenry, IL 60050. Visitation will resume at 10 a.m. Friday, at the funeral home, with the funeral service following at 11 a.m. in the funeral home.
Interment will be in Lakeside Cemetery, Libertyville, IL.
