Terrance Paul “Terry” Brendle, age 61, of McHenry, died Saturday, March 28, 2015, at Loyola Hospital in Maywood.
He was born May 8, 1953 in Woodstock to Paul Carl and Ethel L. (Hachmeister) Brendle. Raised and educated in McHenry, Terry graduated from McHenry High School in 1971. He studied law enforcement at McHenry County College, and was employed as a corrections officer for 26 years by the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office. He also worked part-time at the McHenry Ace Hardware store.
A collector of antiques, Terry was an avid Model A Ford enthusiast. He was a member of the Chain-O-Lakes Chapter of the Model A Club of America, where he also had served as the chapter’s president. Other interests included gardening and entertaining. He loved to cook, and enjoyed hosting dinner parties. Self-taught to play the organ, he loved to play for family and friends.
Survivors include two sisters, Debra Manson of Rockford and Karen (Roy) Lamberg of Loves Park; and a brother, Steven Brendle of McHenry; a niece, Michelle Ann; and two nephews, Jason and Chad.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Ethel, in 2003; his father, Paul, in 2005; and a niece, Sheila Lamberg, on July 11, 2001.
A visitation will be held from 2 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. Thursday, April 2, 2015, at Justen Funeral Home & Crematory, 3700 W. Charles J. Miller Road, McHenry, IL 60050. The funeral service will take place at 7:30 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home, with law enforcement honors to follow. Inurnment will be private at Mt. Emblem Cemetery, Elmhurst.
