Victoria Marie Korzec (nee Krzysko), age 84, of McHenry died peacefully at home in the loving care of family, friends and Season’s Hospice on Sunday, January 14, 2007.
She was born May 8, 1922 in Chicago to John and Frances (Maniak) Krzysko. On August 9, 1947 she married Mitchell J. Korzec in Chicago. He preceded her in death on February 2, 2001.
Formerly of Chicago, Victoria moved to McHenry in 1989.She was employed for 25 years as an administrative assistant at Hawthorne Melody and later at Rosary College in River Forest.
She enjoyed her retirement years in McHenry and was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. During retirement she rediscovered her artistic talents under the guidance of Liz DeYoung. She was an avid reader and excellent seamstress. She touched the lives of many and will be remembered as an engaging conversationalist, storyteller, confidant and friend.
Survivors include three children, Kathleen (Nicolas) Goddard of Minneapolis, MN., Carol (John) Fawcett of Burr Ridge, Daniel (Cynthia) Korzec of St. Johns, AZ.; eleven grandchildren, Kate (Joseph) Fabienke, Michael, Wendy and David Goddard, Renee (Mark) Oiler, Sara and Noelle Dina, Christopher and Danielle Fawcett, Kanah (Todd) Waltman and Luke Korzec; five great grandchildren, Lily, Grace, Joshua, Isabelle, Hunter; and a brother, Frank (Alice) Krzysko of Glen Ellyn.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; a brother Joseph; and four sisters, Bernice, Jean, Helen, and Ceil.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Wednesday, January 17, 2007 at the George R. Justen & Son Funeral Home 3519 W. Elm St., McHenry, Il.
Visitation will continue on Thursday, January 18, from 9 a.m. until the funeral Mass at 10 a.m. on Thursday, January 18, at St. Mary’s Church, 1401 N. Richmond Rd., McHenry. The Rev. Robert Balog will officiate.
Interment will be in Maryhill Cemetery, Niles, at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, Jan 18.
