Virginia C. Lundelius, age 84, of South Elgin, died Tuesday, March 1, 2016, at St. Joseph Hospital in Elgin.
Born September 18, 1931 in Chicago to Edward Peter and Eleanor Marie (Kloss) Reding, Virgina lived in the Elgin area since 1993, and at Heritage Woods for the past month. Previously, she resided in McHenry from 1959 to 1993.
Prior to retirement, Virginia was employed as a nursing assistant at the former McHenry Hospital before she became a full-time homemaker. She was a member of the Holiday Hills Womens Club and was active with her family with the Island Lake Little League as well as Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts. Sewing was a favorite pastime she enjoyed during her lifetime.
Virginia is survived by three children, Roy A. (Linda) Lundelius Jr. of Lake In The Hills, Scott (Laura) Lundelius of Genoa, and Thomas (Donna) Lundelius of Crystal Lake; three grandchildren: David (Chris) Lundelius, Ryan Lundelius, and Logan Lundelius; a great-grandchild, Dominic; three sisters, Bernice (the late Carl) Osterholtz, Lillian (Bill) Thiel, and Dorothy (Willard) Weyrich; two brothers-in-law, Joseph Maloney and James (Ute) Lundelius; and a sister-in-law, Rose Reding.
In addition to her parents, Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, Roy A. Lundelius on October 30, 1989; her grandson, Roy Lundelius III; her sister, Eleanor Maloney; three brothers, Raymond (Betty) Reding, John Reding, and Ed Reding; and two brothers-in-law, Jerry Lundelius and Richard Quinn.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Friday, March 11, 2016, at Justen Funeral Home & Crematory, 3700 Charles J. Miller Road, McHenry, IL 60050. A funeral blessing will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday morning at the funeral home before proceeding to Windridge Memorial Park in Cary for interment.
