Virginia Curtis, age 93, of McHenry, died Sunday, Sept. 28, 2008, at her home.
She was born December 10, 1914 in Altoona, Pennsylvania to John and Elmira (Swanger) Drake.
Virginia was a resident of the Whispering Oaks subdivision in McHenry for many years, where she was active in the Whispering Oaks Garden Club. She loved gardening and tending to her flowers, and was especially known for her talent with growing begonias.
Prior to moving to McHenry, she was active with the Yorkfield Presbyterian Church in Elmhurst, where she was a founding member.
Survivors include two children, David Curtis of McHenry, and Richard (Elaine) Curtis of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida; 10 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and 3 great great grandchildren; a sister, Blanche; and a brother, Sylvester.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Jr. on 11/24/1994. Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, October 1, 2008, at Justen Funeral Home & Crematory, 3700 W.Charles J. Miller Road, McHenry.
The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 2, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Roger Schneider officiating.
Interment will be in Elm Lawn Cemetery, Elmhurst, IL.
