Virginia M. Chudij, age 79, of Wauconda, died Thursday, March 11, 2010 at Good Shepherd Hospital in Barrington.
She was born January 30, 1931 in Dyersburg, Tennessee to LeRoy and Dovie (Weeks) Bartlett. In 1959 she married Nicholas Chudij in Chicago.
Raised in Tennessee, Virginia moved to Chicago, where she lived for many years. She also lived in Arlington Heights for 20 years before becoming a resident of Wauconda Healthcare Center in 2008.
For 25 years, she was employed as a claims agent for Crum & Forester Insurance Company in Oak Brook.
Enjoyments included bingo, traveling to the riverboats and Las Vegas to play the slot machines, southern cooking and ice cream. She liked to travel and also visited Hawaii, California and Florida with her family. She especially loved taking her grandchildren to lunch and on outings and loved to shower them with gifts.
Survivors include her two children, Constance (Al) Smith of McHenry, Robert (Yvette) Bethel of Cherry Valley; five grandchildren, Stacey (Howard) Baylen, Robyn (Jeff) Klipp, Ryan Smith, Dawn Fiori, Chuck Fagiano; nine great grandchildren; and three siblings, Joseph (Margaret) Bartlett of Chicago, Janie (Dino) Romanazzi of Cucamonga, CA, Dean Bartlett of Bensenville.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Nicholas Chudij in 1982.
Visitation will be from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m., Saturday, March 13, 2010 at Justen Funeral Home & Crematory, 3700 W. Charles J. Miller Road, McHenry.
The funeral service will be at 4 p.m. Saturday, March 13, at the funeral home.
Inurnment will be in Maryhill Cemetery in Niles.
