William C. Stevens, age 99, of Wonder Lake, died Saturday, May 24, 2008, at the Hospice of Northeastern Illinois in Woodstock.
He was born June 25, 1908 in Chicago, and married June Ahlgrim on July 16, 1938
Formerly of Chicago, he had been a resident of Wonder Lake since 1978.
William served in the United States Navy from 1943 to 1945.
For most of his life, he was a truck driver. He was a member of local 705 in Chicago.
He was a former member of St. Stephens United Church of Christ of Chicago. He was a member of the Community Church of Richmond where he had been a sponsor to children in Korea through the church mission. He was a member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows, Lodge No. 9 and the Westmoreland Rebekah Lodge No. 607 of Chicago.
Survivors include three sons; Howard (Dorothy) Stevens, John (Jacqueline) Stevens, and William Stevens, all of Wonder Lake; three grandchildren, Robert, Cameo, and Garrick Stevens.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and is wife, June Stevens on January 6, 2002.
Visitation will be from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m., Thursday, May 29, at George R. Justen & Son Funeral Home, 3519 W. Elm Street, McHenry, IL 60050.
Visitation will resume at 8:30 a.m. and continue until the 9:30 a.m funeral service on Friday, May 30, at the George R. Justen & Son Funeral Home.
Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery, River Grove.
