William L. “Bill” Maier, age 89, of Wonder Lake, died Saturday, March 10, 2012 at Centegra Hospital – Woodstock.
He was born April 26, 1922 in Chicago to Christ and Alice (Andershock) Maier.
William was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps serving during WWII as a pilot. He was part of the Berlin Airlift.
Previously a 30 year resident of Brookfield, William had lived in Wonder Lake for over 40 years. He was employed as a civil engineer in road construction. He had estimated construction costs for the original construction of the Kennedy and the Stevenson Expressways. William was a founding member of the Chain-O-Lake’s Eagles Radio Controlled Flying Club and member of Twin Lakes Country Club.
Survivors include his son, James Maier of San Marcos, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Eileen (Boyes) Maier; a son William Jr.; and his parents.
