Bill was one of my best friends ever. He and I met at the McHenry Sportsmen's Club circa 1978. We engaged in a shoot-off for a ham and Bill won. Being a gracious winner, he invited my son and I over to his house for a beer. This was the first of many beers we had together. I introduced Bill to decoy collecting and we did a number of decoy shows together. He became a better trader than me and we chased decoys all over the midwest. We also hunted and fished together many times and embellished our shots and catches. When I moved to Colorado in 1980, Bill and Karen threw a party for me and later came to visit in Denver. We had a ball. I will always remember Bill as a great friend and hunting and fishing buddy. He was a true friend.
