Zelma Hazel Nixon, age 85, of Wonder Lake, passed away Monday, January 25, 2016, at JourneyCare of Woodstock. She was born October 16, 1930, in Camdenton, MO, to Green Berry and Louisa S. (West) Leap.
She was raised in Lake of Ozark, MO, married John Nixon in 1947. In the 1950’s, her family moved to Kansas City, Zelma was valued employee of Proctor & Gamble in the Kansas City area. She also worked in food service for the Turner School District. Six years ago, Zelma decided to move to Wonder Lake to be with her daughter. Her many enjoyments in life were gardening, canning, doing puzzles, and fishing.
Zelma is survived by her three children, John (Jennie) Nixon, Carol (David) Howell, Donna Nixon; her son-in-law L.J.Richmond; seven grandchildren, Mike Swink, Vanessa Voth, Brian Swink, Robert Nixon, Kari Nixon, Paige Knight, Susan Brooks; and her twelve great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Zelma is preceded in death by her loving husband, John on July 24, 1995, and her daughter Judy Richmond.
Friends and neighbors may gather from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m., Friday, January 29, 2016, at Justen Funeral Home & Crematory, 3700 Charles J. Miller Road, McHenry, IL 60050.
The cremation rite will be accorded privately.
